The things I do

This is great... 8 years of college studies, 8 years dedicated to Sociology and Cultural Studies.
8 years fighting the wave of people telling me I should read and love Simmel, because he was oh so the best. 8 years resisting reading him, cause the School of Frankfurt is so no my thing.

8 years, only to cave at the last paper of my masters before my thesis and write about him.

Even worse, I kind of like him.

Shame on me.

Silver

I did it.

I shot my second Archery National Final and I got Silver in my category. My shoulder is injured now and I had to shot with pain in it the second day, but it did not mattered, because it was great. I felt like a true archer for the first time.

Every single arrow that I shot under the pain was done with technique. And I improved my scores more than I thought.

I feel so accomplished and happy... but so in pain right now.

Good ol' me

Yeah, I've been MIA for a while, but thing is, I'm back to my parents' place housesiting for them and they have a very slow computer and dial up even slower.
Also, the papers are still unfinished (2 to go) and I have National Archery Finals in 3 days. You can imagine how busy I am.

But it's been so great to be in my old room, with my old books and pics of Europe and remember all the life dreams that kind of got blurry for a while.

It's been a shot of reality that I'm actually enjoying. There was a life I used to belong to, where I was needed and wanted. Where my words mattered and my feelings were taken seriously. Where I was not taken for granted. Somewhere between mono and the Indian Summer of Buenos Aires, I lost track of that... and I lost the balance, my inner balance.

It's nice to be back to my old life. The one I know, the one I love. The one I can handle because I know that I can make it if I believe hard in it. The one where I'm not afraid of trying new things but I'm also aware of the priorities.

The one I've missed and from what my friends had been telling me, they had missed too.

My elevator list

Yeap. I haven't done one of this in a while, so I guess it's time to make my elevation list. Which of course, we all know it changes practically each week, but nonetheless, let's give it a shot:

#5: Daniel Brühl: No one knows who he is... but kid got me at "Love in thoughts" and totally conquered me at "Goodbye Lenin!". He's so perfectly cute it's just yummy. Too bad I don't get more movies in here with him.

#4: Charlie Hunnam: I've loved him since he was Ryder at "Young Americans", then it was "Abandon" and he was for sure the cutest 19th Century hero in "Nicholas Nickelby"... great hands, by the way.

#3: Orlando Bloom: It's Orlando, for crying out loud!! He's hot, he has an accent, he's dreamy. And he is an archer... what else can someone ask for?

#2: Ryan Reynolds: He was lovely in "Two guys, a girl and a pizza place" and in "Blade 3"... men, I'm still recovering from those abs and the handcuffed scene...

*drum rolls*

#1: Brendan Hansen: Come on, this one was a no-brainer. He has the body, the personality, he's a swimmer and an archer... he's funny and witty. If I ever make it to get into an elevator with him and I don't come back after 10 minutes... don't, I repeat, don't come looking for me.

The Old Heart of the City

Last night I attended this weird vernissage... not relevant.

The relevant was the ride back home. As I was on the phone with A, talking about how much boys suck, I walked along the streets of San Telmo and I sat there, in Parque Lezama, waiting for the 29 bus to come. My view had to very old bars in two opposite corners. It was breathtaking... to see that part of San Telmo again, that bohemian mix of art, tango and inmigrants. The Old Heart of Buenos Aires, where everythign started...

So connected to what Buenos Aires really was. And sometimes, still is.

Like last night.

It hurts every damn time

One would think that with time, you'd get used to these things. But you don't. They hurt every single time. And yhere is nothing you can do to prevent it...

Yeah, it sucks.

That was AWESOME

4 SECONDS.

4 SECONDS.

That was the difference between Brendan Hansen and the guy who came in 2nd in the 200m breastroke last night.

Can I just say woooooooooot!!!!!?

He totally rocked as usual. And later he took time to come by chat and thanked his fans for supporting him. Total rockstar. And he looks really hot in white basketball shorts.

4 races

4 wins

4 seconds

The rest is silence.

Another round has passed...

Best rewrite scene/episode from my fic Come Undone, my view on what really happened the night Jake came back and how he and Peyton were finally able to be together, as they were meant to be.

And what can I say? this one turned out to be my most awarded fic. When Critta and I started writing, praises and awards were not the aim, but to address a really hard topic. So today, getting the best collaboration award means a lot, cause we wrote this fic from our hearts and the intertwining of our writing is also the mirror of our friendship.

I'm really happy about this!!!
Still no Best Author, but I'm ready to let that one go.
